Founding Story
Affix Labs was founded in 2016 by Tom Sam and Lauri Hulkko in response to the Zika virus outbreak in Latin America. The founding mission was to develop a safer alternative to the neurotoxic insect repellents then available — particularly for protection of pregnant women and vulnerable communities. This led to the development of a patented water-based controlled-release delivery platform, and subsequently to Repeltec, the company's flagship product.
