In January 2021 an expert jury named Affix Labs the Value to Society winner among the 22 start-ups CHEManager presented during 2020.

CHEManager, the German trade publication for the chemical and life sciences industry, runs the Innovation Pitch, a programme that introduces start-ups to its readers. During 2020 it presented 22 start-ups, twice as many as the year before.
At the end of January 2021 an expert jury met online to choose the Innovation Pitches of the Year: one winner in each of three categories, Value to Society, Value to Industry and Value to Sustainability.
Value to Society
Affix Labs won Value to Society. According to CHEManager it was close: the company, then based in Finland, finished narrowly ahead of the German start-up MK2 Biotechnologies.
Senorics won Value to Industry, ahead of Holo-Light from Austria and Hafnium Labs from Denmark. Caphenia took Value to Sustainability, narrowly ahead of IVOC-X and Ineratec from Germany and Cellugy from Portugal.
About the programme
The jury praised the range of ideas among the 22 start-ups and their relevance to society as well as to industry. The Innovation Pitch is supported by sponsors, among them 5-HT Digital Hub, JMP, Plan B, Flanders Investment & Trade and Heraeus, so that young companies can present themselves to the chemical and life sciences sector without paying for it.
